PARTNERSHIPS FOR IMPACT
For countless years, BUF of MI has been honored to maintain their annual eligibility status as a benefitting charity of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), which is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, administered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
In addition to their listing as a benefiting charity, BUF of MI has funding and solicitation access to Federal civilian, postal and military donors seeking a cost-effective way of giving back and improving the lives of others during the annual campaign season (September 1st to December 15th).
To be eligible to participate in the CFC each charitable organization must be designated as a tax-exempt non-profit organization under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and must provide specific information about their auditing, governance and program functions. Organizations must also provide a completed and signed copy of their IRS Form 990 for their most recent fiscal year and must be able to demonstrate that it has a "substantial" program presence within the campaign's geographical boundaries or within the state of the campaign.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is accountable for assuring Federal employees that their designations will be honored and distributed to the charitable organization of their choice, and that all charitable organizations listed in the CFC have met strict eligibility requirements on an annual basis. Random audits are conducted and annual Campaign Assessment Reporting is required.
