The Black United Fund of Michigan, Inc. was established in 1970 as a community-based resource center to enhance self-help empowerment efforts through grass roots activities and organizations. The Black United Fund of Michigan, Inc. was Chartered as a non-profit corporation in May, 1972 and became affiliated with the National BUF in August of 1974. For over 30 years, The Black United Fund of Michigan, Inc. has stood firm on the principles of community enrichment, self-help and education. The Black United Fund of Michigan, Inc. serves as a non-competitive Fund of Choice, that assists community efforts through referrals, funding, consultation and / or technical assistance.
